Picanha Rump Steak

Rs 1,32000

Description

Picanha, also known as the rump cap, top sirloin cap, or coulotte, is a highly prized cut of beef, especially popular in Brazilian cuisine, where they're often bent in a horseshoe shape, skewered, and cooked over an open fire at the country's churrascarias. It is known for its distinctive fat cap and rich, beefy flavor. Picanha is a triangular cut located at the top of the rump, sitting on a layer of fat that provides both flavor and tenderness when cooked. Our Picanha are all Karan Beef.

Tips for preparing the perfect picanha:

  • Grilling: Picanha is often skewered and grilled in its own juices. In Brazilian churrasco, it is typically cut into thick slices, skewered in a horseshoe shape, and cooked over an open flame.
  • Roasting: It can also be roasted whole with the fat cap on top, allowing the fat to melt and seep into the meat, creating a self-basting effect.
  • Pan-Seared: For a quicker method, picanha can be sliced into steaks and pan-seared or grilled.
  • Seasoning: Picanha is often simply seasoned with coarse salt to let the natural flavors of the meat shine. Additional spices and marinades can be used according to personal preference.
  • Slicing: When serving picanha, it is best to slice it against the grain to ensure maximum tenderness.
  • Accompaniments: Picanha pairs well with traditional sides such as farofa (toasted cassava flour), rice, beans, and a variety of fresh salads. Chimichurri or a simple garlic butter can complement the meat’s rich flavor.

All our prime cuts are KARAN BEEF, a leading producer of quality beef in Africa. Established in 1974 in South Africa, the KARAN BEEF Group is world-renowned for its premium quality beef.

The Butcher Block is where we buy all of our chicken, beef and lamb products, which are top quality cuts, The T-bones, Thomahawks and Picanha are our family favorites. The management team are very professional, also the delivery service is excellent.

Butcher Block vs Biltong MU

Thank you for the opportunity to offer a review on my latest purchase from BB (Butcher Block.) The Picanha that I bought was excellent but so are the cuts from BMU (Biltong MU)
I also ordered T bone steaks and full credit to BB as these were succulent and tender. The T bones previously ordered from BMU on the other hand were tough and I think that this was because their supplier did not age the meat before supply. If I compare the Boerewors between the two meat suppliers in Mauritius the victory goes to BMU as their wors was far tastier and more importantly had a more rigid texture which I believe is the way that wors should be. So a 50/50 score with opportunity to earn a dominant score an absolute reality.
