South African-Style Pies (Pack of 2)
Two rectangular South African-style pies made locally in Mauritius, each with approximately 100g of filling wrapped in approximately 100g of buttery, flaky homemade puff pastry.
Our pies are back from our original pie supplier. Their signature rectangular shape and substantial filling make them a satisfying choice for lunch or an easy meal at home.
Product Details
Each pack contains two pies of the same flavour. Each pie weighs approximately 200g, giving you approximately 400g per pack. Choose your filling:
- Pepper Steak
- Pulled Beef
- Steak & Cheese
- Chicken & Cheese
- Creamy Country Chicken
The pies are supplied frozen and should be cooked from frozen.
Cooking Advice
For a golden finish, brush the tops of the frozen pies with beaten egg before cooking.
- Oven: Preheat to 200°C and bake for approximately 25–30 minutes.
- Air fryer: Cook at 175°C for approximately 30–35 minutes.
For a more consistently cooked base, carefully detach each frozen pie from its foil tray and rub a little butter on the underside before cooking. Place the pies back into their tray on a suitable baking tray or air fryer liner, with space between them for air to circulate.
Cooking times vary by appliance. Check that the pastry is golden and the filling is piping hot throughout before serving. Allow the pies to stand briefly, as the filling will be very hot.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with chips or a salad for an easy meal, or cook one pie at a time and keep the second frozen for later.
Storage
Keep frozen and follow the best-before date on the packaging. Cook from frozen using the guidance above.
