Cooking Tips
These sausages - whether fresh or frozen are completely raw and must be cooked through completely before serving.
- Pan-frying: Cook over medium heat with a small amount of oil, turning regularly until evenly browned and cooked through.
- Grilling: Place under a preheated grill and turn frequently for even colouring.
- Braaiing: Cook over medium coals rather than direct, intense heat to prevent the casing from burning or splitting.
- Oven cooking: Arrange on a baking tray and turn partway through cooking.
- Serving suggestion: Serve with eggs and toast, mashed potatoes and gravy, roasted vegetables or as part of a savoury platter.
Avoid piercing or pressing the sausages while cooking, as this allows their natural juices to escape.
Chicken sausages must be cooked completely through. Ensure the centre is piping hot with no raw or pink meat remaining.
Storage
Keep fresh sausages refrigerated and use by the date shown on the packaging.
Keep frozen sausages frozen until required. Defrost thoroughly in the refrigerator before cooking and do not refreeze once defrosted.
