Pork Neck Steaks are cut from a well-worked, naturally marbled part of the animal. The fat distributed through the meat helps them remain tender and succulent during cooking.
They are a particularly good choice for the pan, grill or braai and can accommodate stronger marinades and seasonings without losing their pork character.
More Info
Pork Neck Steaks contain more internal fat than lean cuts such as pork tenderloin. This marbling gradually renders during cooking, protecting the meat and producing a juicy result.
As the steaks are individually cut, their exact size, shape, thickness and marbling may vary slightly.
This product is imported frozen and handled under carefully controlled cold-chain conditions.
You have the choice whether you would like this product supplied frozen or professionally defrosted under refrigeration. Defrosting requires advance notice and may affect the earliest available collection or delivery date.
Cooking Tips
- Pan-frying: Sear in a hot pan until well coloured, then reduce the heat and continue cooking until done.
- Grilling or braaiing: Cook over medium-high heat, turning as required. Watch for flare-ups as the marbling begins to render.
- Marinating: Pork Neck Steaks work well with garlic, mustard, rosemary, paprika, chilli, citrus, soy-based marinades and barbecue sauces.
- Resting: Allow the steaks to rest briefly before serving.
- Serving suggestion: Serve with potato salad, roasted vegetables, coleslaw, chips, grilled corn or a fresh green salad.
Ensure the pork is thoroughly cooked before serving, but avoid excessive cooking, which can still dry out the meat.
Storage
Keep frozen until required and defrost thoroughly in the refrigerator before cooking.
If supplied defrosted at your request, keep refrigerated, use within the period advised on the packaging and do not refreeze while raw.
